Mixing new formulations for cosmetics with the Hauschild SpeedMixer®
When mixing cosmetic products, research and development work has been relying on a device worldwide since 1974 that already bears its key advantage in its name: The original "Hauschild SpeedMixer®" enables the production of homogeneous multi-material compounds such as liquids, highly viscous pastes, and powders in just a few minutes thanks to a sophisticated mixing technique.
Renowned manufacturers of cosmetic and care products rely on the technology and market leader in laboratory mixing equipment: the Hauschild SpeedMixer®. The possible applications of this centrifugal mixer are as multifaceted as the product world itself: Different liquids and pastes, pastes with powders, powders with powders and other combinations of liquids and powders can be mixed. Materials with different chemical and physical properties can also be mixed to create new products: Oils, gels, emulsions, creams, lotions, powders ... the list is endless.

The formula is changed, new components are added to test what this does to the product. The faster the result is at hand, the more effective this process will be. Thanks to its extremely fast mixing, our Hauschild SpeedMixer® shortens product the development, analysis and quality assurance process in the laboratory tremendously."
The success secret: Harnessing centrifugal forces
DAC technology is the key to success. DAC stands for Dual Asymmetric Centrifuge and is also the eponym for the Hauschild SpeedMixer® product range. The double rotation of the mixing cup is the special feature of this mixing principle. The combination of centrifugal forces acting in different planes enables an extremely efficient mixing process, which is characterized by a homogeneous result - without the use of stirring tools. In this process, almost 100 percent degassing is already achieved during the mixing process – removing even the most minute micro-bubbles. An additional degassing cycle is not required. The Hauschild SpeedMixer® with vacuum technology is available for complete deaeration. Programmable cycles ensure an absolutely identical, reproducible mixture of each batch and result in a considerable acceleration of the development process.
Mixed - not stirred
The Hauschild SpeedMixer® mixes without stirring tools in disposable cups, thereby entirely dispensing with the need for cleaning and the additional use of chemicals. The dimensions of the mixing cups and mixing buckets range from a few grams to ten kilograms and a few millilitres to 16 litres nominal capacity - depending on how large the batch is to be.
Highly viscous starting materials must also be dispersed before further processing. For this purpose, companies that do not work with the Hauschild SpeedMixer often need three roller mills, paddle mixers, kneading machines or dissolvers. While the use of these devices not only requires a lot of time as such, cleaning and refilling them is also time-consuming.
Thanks to the use of the Hauschild SpeedMixer® manufacturers can massively reduce mixing times in most cases. Cleaning routines of stirrers are completely eliminated, and many samples can be mixed and tested in a relatively short period of time.
Customized Cosmetics mixed on the spot to take away
Some manufacturers also use Hauschild SpeedMixer® in their stores to produce products individually according to customer wishes in terms of color, taste or size - immediately to take away. A lipstick, for example, gains new value when it matches the exact shade a customer wants. A makeup or powder that exactly matches the skin tone, a moisturizer with only certain ingredients - there are virtually no limits to the individual fulfillment of wishes when mixing in seconds with the Hauschild SpeedMixer®.
